Trueno Key Hook – Assembly Manual

This manual covers three versions of the Trueno Key Hook:

1. Standard (Normal) Assembly

2. Reinforced Pop‑Up Assembly – stronger hinge + mini neodymium magnet

3. Full Light‑Up Assembly – LED kit, wiring, battery placement

All assemblies assume printing in PLA, PLA+, PETG, or similar with 100% infill on hook components for maximum strength.

2. Print Settings

Material: PLA / PLA+ best for clean finish; PETG if higher impact resistance is needed

Infill: 100% for hook + hinge areas; 40–60% for cosmetic covers

Walls: 4–5 perimeters minimum

Layer Height: 0.16–0.2mm

Supports: Only for recess under hook or magnet pockets (if needed)

3. Normal Assembly (No Magnet / No Light)

1. Inspect all prints and clean any support marks.

2. Insert the pop‑up hook into its slot on the main back plate.

3. Align hinge holes and slide in the pivot pin.

4. Test swing movement – it should move freely without grinding.

5. Attach front cosmetic cover using:

Printed snap tabs or

6. Mount the assembly to the wall or surface high grade double side tape. Ensure its the right tape for the surface.

Always clean with isoprop or alcohol wipe before application.

4. Reinforced Pop‑Up Assembly (With Mini Neo Magnet)

This version improves hook retention and gives a satisfying click‑lock using a neodymium magnet.

Additional Required Parts

1× Neodymium magnet: 6×3 mm (or the exact size of your recess)

Superglue (gel recommended)

Assembly Steps

1. Fit the hook the same way as the normal assembly.

2. Locate the magnet pocket on the underside or inner face of the hook.

3. Test‑fit the magnet — it should sit flush.

4. Add a small amount of superglue and push magnet in.

5. Locate the matching metal washer or second magnet on the back plate recess.

6. Glue in place.

7. Reassemble hinge.

8. Test pop‑up action — the magnet should:

Hold the hook closed

Release with light pressure

5. Full Light‑Up Assembly

This version includes LEDs behind the front plate.

Additional Required Parts

1× 5V USB LED strip (cuttable) or 6× 5mm LEDs with resistors

1× CR2032 battery holder or USB‑5V lead

Thin gauge wire (26–30 AWG)

Heat‑shrink tubing

Optional: on/off micro switch

Assembly Steps

1. Install LED strip or individual LEDs inside the inner light channel of the model.

2. Feed wires through the wiring notch toward the electronics compartment.

3. Solder LEDs to battery holder or USB power.

4. (Optional) Wire inline micro switch.

5. Place the diffuser plate over LED chamber.

6. Close the electronics compartment using the printed cover.

7. Test lighting to ensure even glow.

8. Complete final assembly of hook + hinge.

6. Mounting Instructions

1. Hold template or the back plate against the wall. Backing must be pre drilled

2. Mark drilling points.

3. Use wall plugs if mounting onto plaster.

4. Screw final assembly securely.

5. Test hook retention and pop‑up force.

7. Maintenance & Tips

If hinge is tight: lightly sand pivot holes or use graphite lubricant.

If magnet force is too strong: add a thin plastic shim.

LEDs should not run from raw battery for long; USB power recommended.

PLA versions should be kept away from high heat.
